What is Pilates?
Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates. It is a form of exercise which concentrates on body awareness, core strength, flexibility, and breath.
Pilates has become one of the most popular exercise systems in the West.
Most people like the fact that Pilates works so well for a wide range of people, from complete beginners in exercise to the advanced athletes, and everyone in between. There are beginner and advanced levels with lots of modifications to suit everyone. Celebrities, athletes, dancers, seniors, pregnant women and people who at various stages of physical rehabilitation swear by Pilates.
People that practice Pilates have noticed great benefits, like becoming stronger, longer, leaner, and more able to move with grace and ease.

Pilates vs. Yoga
Yoga
Yoga is based on the Eastern idea of moving energy through your body. Yoga's goal is to keep the body supple and youthful, by stretching, relaxing, coming in body awareness, and connecting with ones breath. The physical postures in Yoga, called Asanas, condition the body and the mind. After a Yoga class, you will feel refreshed, rejuvenated and relaxed.
Pilates
Pilates poses are very similar to Yoga poses, yet there are some profound differences. Pilates was inspired by Yoga, however, it is physical conditioning first and foremost. Joseph Pilates, the inventor of Pilates, developed a way to rehabilitate soldiers after WWI. Pilates exercises stretch and strengthen the body. By working the whole body, emphasizing control and concentration. Pilates exercises are more concerned with quality rather than quantity. Therefore, the movements aren't perfomed rapidly or excessively. Because Pilates is low impact, it is very popular for for injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Our Pilates Classes
Hot Pilates - Power (All levels) - Challenge your body and your mind in a full body sculpting class that has just the right mix of toning and stretching to develop core torso stability & back strength. Improve body image and confidence and beat everyday stress. Joseph Pilates said "you'll feel better in 10 sessions, look better in 20 and have a whole new body in 30 sessions." Most of our clients have found this to be true and many start seeing results right away. Perhaps more important, our clients feel better which keeps them coming back for more. Pilates helps to relieve chronic back pain, knee and joint pain. Temperatures range from 85-95 degrees, please come prepared to sweat! Wear light stretch clothing. Come well hydrated and on an empty stomach. Bring your yoga mat, a large bottle of water and a smaill towel. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early.
Hot Pilates - Sculpt // resistance bands required (All levels) - Shape your body using resistance bands in this 1-hour mat workout. We offer regular mat Pilates classes as well as State of the art, Far Infrared Hot Pilates classes, which runs for 60 minutes.
